Whole grains contain several nutrients that have anti-cancer properties. Whole grains that would reduce the risk of growth and thriving of carcinogenic cells include wheat, barley, and rice. The phytic acid that occurs in grains and legumes prevent multiplication of cancer-causing cells.

Saponins which also occurs in most legumes are anti-cancer is it deactivates cancer-causing compounds in the body. Consumption of foods rich in calories increases chances of adding a lot of weight, which in turn makes the victim vulnerable to their risk of contracting several kinds of cancer. High-calorie foods include junk foods like crisps, burgers and French fries.

Food rich in sugar like chocolates and biscuits exposes individuals to the same risks. High-calorie foods and foods rich in sugar usually contain very minimal amounts of nutrients vital to the body, another reason you should avoid them. Sugary drinks fall in the same category.

High consumption of calorie-rich foods are known to cause obesity, which alters the normal functioning of the digestive system. This, in turn, might lead to the development of pancreatic cancer, another kind of deadly cancer. Pancreatic cancer is dangerous because it can rarely be diagnosed at an early stage.
